Course Content :

AS :

Unit 1 : Investigating Media (External Exam – 2 hours) = 50% of AS

Students learn how meanings are created in a range of media products across different media platforms. This unit is assessed in two sections.

 

Unit 2 : Creating Media (Coursework) = 50% of AS

Students make two media products based on a set brief.  These products must be made for different media platforms. Students also must provide evidence of planning and evaluation.

A2 :

Unit 3 : Critical Perspectives (External Exam – 2 hours) = 50% of A2

Students learn to engage with debates and theories that surround the media in our society.  This unit is assessed in two sections.

Unit 4 : Media Research & Production (Coursework) = 50% of A2

Students investigate a theme or text in detail and make a related production. They must write a critical essay of 2,000 words and produce a piece of practical work inspired by their findings.

Examinations & Coursework.
