Entry Requirements : Grade B or above in GCSE French.
Course Content :
Year 1 : Candidates are required to study social and cultural life of the French speaking countries, developing their skills in all areas of the language and enhancing their grammar knowledge.
Year 2 : The A2 modules cover environmental, social and political issues and greater emphasis is placed on accuracy and use of language. Candidates will also study elements of the French Cinema, Literature & Geography.
Assessment :
At the end of the first year of study the AS modules will be assessed with an oral examination, and a listening, reading and written exam. At the end of the second year of study (A2) there will be an oral test and a mixed-skill examination paper.
Progression :
Access to foreign language degrees and courses which include a language component, eg Business with French, Law with French, Biology, Chemistry. Many universities particularly welcome applications from students with language skills in their effort to establish links with universities across Europe. Career opportunities include marketing, banking, sales, information technology, teaching and interpreting.
