Awarding Body :  AQA

Entry Requirements :  Minimum Grade B in GCSE Chemistry or GCSE Additional Science.  Grade B in GCSE Maths - (GCSE Additional Applied Science is not sufficient).

Course Content :

Year 1 : Two modules which cover organic, inorganic and physical chemistry.  A third module involves internally assessed investigation and practical skills (ISA). 

Year 2 : Two further modules which build upon the areas of study covered in the first year and a third module involving internally assessed investigation and practical skills (ISA).

Assessment :

Examinations will take place in January and June of the first year of study leading to the AS qualification. The remaining modules will be examined in January and June of the second year leading to the full A level qualification.

Coursework :

Internally assessed practical work worth 20% for AS and 20% for A level.

Progression :

Medical sciences, natural sciences, physical sciences, biological sciences, analytical and environmental sciences.
