Entry Requirements :  C in English

Course Content :

AS : An introduction to Philosophy : Module 1 Reason and experience (compulsory) and one from, why should I be governed? Why should I be moral?  The idea of God, Persons.  Module 2 Two from Knowledge of the external world, tolerance, the value of art, God and the world, free will and determinism.

A2 : Module 3 One from Philosophy of mind, political philosophy, Epistemology and metaphysics, moral philosophy, philosophy of religion. Module 4 Philosophical problems as discussed in a classic philosophical text.

Assessment :

AS : Each module is assessed by a 1 hour, 30 minute paper. 

A2 : One 2 hour paper, one 1 hour, 30 minute paper.

There is a need to be prepared to read complex texts and write essays.

None

Progression :

Philosophy, law, medicine, programming, any science, politics, economics, linguistics, literary theory, aesthetics, classics.
