Entry Requirements : GCSE (or equivalent) ICT Grade C or above but students who have not taken GCSE will be considered if they can demonstrate an interest and ability in IT.
Course Content :
The course involves advanced skills in the use of a range of software applications while also studying the effects and limitations of ICT and the new opportunities it provides within organisations and society. The emphasis is upon teaching and learning through the practical use of ICT.

Assessment :
| AS This consists of two units, one written examination and one practical project |
| A2 This also consists of two units. As with the AS, one written examination and one coursework project |
Coursework :
| AS Candidates undertake DTP and multimedia tasks, presenting the outcome for internal assessment and moderation. |
| A2 Candidates analyse, design, implement, test and evaluate a solution to a problem of their choice requiring the use of a relational database. This is a substantial piece of work, undertaken over an extended period of time. |
Progression :
The new ICT specification has been designed for students who wish to go on to higher education courses or employment where understanding of how ICT can be used in society and business, as well the professional demands of industry and the implications of its use, will be a valuable asset. It gives direct progression to many ICT related courses at University, but is also particularly welcomed by business, management and mathematics subjects.
