What is the role of a Learning Mentor?
The role of Learning Mentors at Silverdale is to reduce barriers to learning by offering a variety of different methods of support.

Our primary aims are to improve attendance and punctuality, raise attainment and reduce fixed term and permanent exclusions.
Referrals to Learning Mentors
Teaching staff meet with the appropriate Key Stage Leader to discuss their concerns about an individual or group of students. Key Stage Leaders will contact parents to discuss these concerns and a referral to Learning Mentors will be suggested if this level of support is appropriate.
Parents can contact the Year 7 Leader or Key Stage Leaders if they feel that their child would benefit from Learning Mentor Support.

Peer Mentoring Schemes
All pupils in Year 7 will have the support of older pupils, some of whom will be formally attached to Year 7 form groups. These pupils play a key role in helping new pupils find their way around and settle in. Throughout their time at Silverdale pupils willl benefit from this type of peer mentoring and support, and their turn go to play key roles themslves as mentors.
